"Elmo's X account was briefly compromised yesterday by an unknown hacker who posted disgusting messages, including antisemitic and racist posts. The account has since been secured," a spokesperson for Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit educational organization behind Sesame Street, said in a statement to ABC News on Monday.

Sesame Workshop said the X account for its beloved fuzzy, red monster Elmo was compromised by an "unknown hacker" who made antisemitic and racist posts on Sunday.

Elmo’s X account was hacked on Sunday, causing the beloved “Sesame Street” character to appear to post expletive-filled antisemitic rants and anti-Trump statements.
