The U.N. mission in Afghanistan says a Taliban fighter opened fire at the U.N. compound in Kabul, slightly injuring a security guard, and was later found dead.

A suicide attack in December killed senior Taliban minister Khalil Haqqani at the interior ministry office along with five other people. It was the most high-profile assassination involving the group’s leadership since they took control of Kabul three years ago.

A Taliban security member opened fire at the UN's largest compound in Kabul, killing one and injuring another. The killed individual was a member of the Taliban's security forces, while the injured was a UN security guard.
