A credited NFL insider broke down why the Pittsburgh Steelers might pivot to trading for Kirk Cousins as a backup plan at quarterback

SI's Jeremy Brener threw out the idea of Pittsburgh signing Ryan Tannehill. The former Titans Pro Bowler didn't play in 2024 but isn't officially on the NFL's retirement list. Tannehill is 36 now, and while he wouldn't be a shoo-in as a starter, he'd add to a depth chart that will likely also feature Mason Rudolph and rookie Will Howard.

As the Pittsburgh Steelers pursued Aaron Rodgers in free agency, the 2025 NFL Draft looked like a time for a decision. That came and went, and Rodgers is still a free agent – but ESPN’s Adam Schefter shared another potential date to watch.

Rodgers has always been opposed to the first two phases of the offseason program. By not agreeing to terms until the third phase looms, he avoids the offseason program until the offseason program becomes, from Rodgers’s perspective, highly relevant.
