At least ten people have been killed in a school shooting in the central Swedish city of Örebro on Tuesday, according to authorities. Swedish police said they believe the suspect — a man — to be among the dead. They said the perpetrator acted alone but added the investigation was still in its early stages.

Swedish police said that about 10 people, including the gunman, were killed during a shooting Tuesday at an adult education center. But a final death toll and a conclusive number of wounded hadn't yet been determined.

"It is a very painful day for all of Sweden," Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson said in a statement posted on social media.
