With the last rebrand, you had to hunt down a whole new app to install. This time, the change is slipping in almost unnoticed.
Warner Bros. Discovery has settled on a date to reskin the Max streamer back to HBO Max: Early this Wednesday morning, according to streamer insiders. The flip won’t happen simultaneously, but customers will see “HBO Max” on the apps that formerly said “Max” across the streamer’s territories on July 9.
“The Big Bang Theory,” about a group of nerdy friends ran from 2007 to May 2019. The first spinoff, “Young Sheldon,” ran for seven seasons and concluded last year. “Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage,” will debut its second season in the fall. Warner Bros. and HBO Max are owned by CNN’s parent company.
As of Wednesday, HBO Max is no longer Max and is back to being HBO Max, just on the Max platform. We know, it’s confusing. Either way, it appears that X (fka Twitter) is not playing ball with all of this back and forth — or at any rate, it has not played ball yet .
The name's return was first announced during Warner Bros. Discovery's upfront presentation to advertisers in May.
