A CDC spokesperson identified two outbreaks in the last decade linked to more tuberculosis cases than the ongoing outbreak centered in Wyandotte County.

Health officials are downplaying the TB danger, although the outbreak has continued for a full year with no end in sight.

The outbreak poses “very low risk to the general public, including the surrounding counties,” the Kansas Department of Health and Environment said.
