NJ Transit and union officials announced a tentative contract agreement with the last rail union working without a new pact, less than two weeks before a possible locomotive engineers strike on March 22.

New Jersey Transit and its rail engineers union say an agreement has been reached on a new labor contract, averting a possible strike​.

The locomotive engineers have been without a contract since January 2020. Members planned to strike March 22 if an agreement wasn't reached.
