The San Francisco 49ers have some work to do this offseason if they are to become legitimate Super Bowl contenders again. The biggest thing they need to do is to figure out quarterback Brock Purdy’s contract situation.

Lynch also said that the team has discussed an extension with tight end George Kittle, per Wagoner. Kittle is entering the final season of his contract with a $22MM cap hit. The 49ers have plenty of cap space, so extending Kittle to free up money isn’t an immediate priority, but the team would like to keep him past 2025 — his age-32 season.

Purdy is coming off of a 2024 season that saw him struggle a bit. He completed 65.9 percent of his pass attempts for 3,864 yards, 20 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions in 15 games. In addition to his passing numbers, Purdy was able to chip in with 323 yards and five touchdowns on the ground as well.
