Cades Cove Loop Road and Laurel Creek reopened Friday morning. The Great Smoky Mountains did receive several inches of snow, though it didn't stick in the lower elevations.
Cades Cove Loop will close from the morning of Jan. 20 through noon on Jan. 24 and will reopen over the weekend, weather permitting, the park said.
Cades Cove is scheduled to reopen to the public Jan. 24, weather permitting. If more work is necessary in the area, the loop will close again Jan. 27.
The National Park Service plans to burn approximately 1,400 acres of fields in Cades Cove, weather permitting. Burn operations might begin Feb. 3 and continue through Feb. 5.
