President Donald Trump has signed a sweeping executive order setting a 30-day deadline for drugmakers to lower the cost of prescription drugs in the U.S.

The order is based on a "most favored nation" pricing model, which is similar to a policy Trump pushed in his first administration.

The ACLU on Monday filed an amended complaint and discovery requests in its case against the NEA in US District Court in Rhode Island, arguing that by following the order, the NEA will violate artists’ right to free speech and other rights protected by the Constitution.

There are significant questions on how the order can be implemented, and if companies can raise prices on already approved drugs, analysts say.
