Ezequiel Tovar hit a three-run homer to break a fifth-inning tie and the Colorado Rockies secured their first home series victory of the season with a 10-6 win over the Minnesota Twins on Saturday night.

After grabbing an early three-run lead Saturday, the Twins offense went to sleep, and the Colorado Rockies roared to life. Home runs by Ryan McMahon, Ezequiel Tovar and Hunter Goodman powered the Rockies, who clinched only their third series victory of the season in 32 tries with a 10-6 victory over the Twins in front of 42,131 at Coors Field.

Makes sense, though — this series must look to Rockies fans like the closest thing to sure wins on the 2025 schedule. Ryan McMahon smacked a two-run homer for the second straight night, Ezequiel Tovar crushed a tiebreaking three-run homer to straightaway center field,

He went seven innings, allowing three runs on six hits with three strikeouts and just one walk. He allowed just two hits after the second inning, induced two crucial double plays, and threw 78 pitches. It was the fourth time a Rockies starter has gone seven innings this season and the first since Germán Márquez on May 22.

Justin Topa came in for the bottom of the 6th inning, and it went like this: single, stolen base, sac bunt, double, single, sac groundout, strikeout. Twins losing 3-8.

Minnesota won its past three series against Tampa Bay, Pittsburgh, and the Chicago Cubs to earn a 6-3 record in the past nine. The Twins are in a heathy spot to be completive and steal an AL Wild Card spot. Minnesota is four games back of the final postseason spot and can make ground against Colorado here.

The Rockies talked a good game before hosting the Twins Friday night at Coors Field. Phrases like “fresh start” and “new beginning” were bandied about.
