Former Spanish Football Federation President Luis Rubiales was found guilty on Thursday of sexually assaulting a soccer player Jenni Hermoso in 2023 but was found innocent on coercion charges.

The former head of the Spanish football federation kissed the footballer after the Women's World Cup final in 2023.

Rubiales was found guilty of sexual assault and ordered by Spain's High Court to pay a fine of €10,800 (£8,942). Rubiales was acquitted of coercion, after allegedly trying to pressure Hermoso into publicly saying that the kiss was consensual.
