Japan forward Kyogo Furuhashi has joined Rennes from Celtic on a two-and-a-half-year deal, the French Ligue 1 club announced Monday.

The 30-year-old Japanese ends a three-and-a-half year spell with the Scottish champions, where he scored 85 goals and won eight trophies. It is understood that Rennes have paid a fee of nearly £10 million for Furuhashi, who has signed a two-and-a-half year contract with the Bretons.

Jota spent one year with Al-Ittihad before an offseason move to Rennes, which has sold the Portuguese forward to Celtic for a reported 10 million euros ($10.5 million). Celtic got a reported 29 million ($30.5 million) selling him after his first spell in Glasgow.

The reason for the delay in confirmation of Kyogo Furuhashi 's move to Rennes has been revealed. The striker touched down in France last Thursday to complete the move although four days later, nothing has been made official.
