After the May 2024 tornadoes, 40/29 News has spoken to several families who are taking greater effort efforts to stay prepared ahead of severe weather season.

The above-ground shelters were installed in the Coopertown and Cedar Hill EMS stations and offer protection from all types of severe weather, including the strongest EF-5 tornadoes.

A safe room refers to any above or below ground shelter designed, constructed, and installed in accordance with the most recent versions of FEMA Publications 320 and 361, as well as ICC 500 standards.
