The Corporation for Public Broadcasting’s imminent shutdown, as Republicans in Congress cut funding, resets key aspects of the U.S. media landscape.

The company is among the first casualties of a vote to strip roughly $500 million in federal funding from NPR, PBS and local stations across the country.

The Corporation for Public Broadcasting announced Friday that it will begin a "wind-down of its operations" and cut a majority of its jobs by the end of September following Congress' vote earlier this month to cut $1.1 billion in its federal funding.
