Shemar Turner plays with a fire that Chicago Bears coaches Ben Johnson and Dennis Allen like. Will that be enough for him to earn playing time on a crowded defensive line?
One of those mentors is Gervon Dexter Sr., who's entering his third season with the Bears, and the rookie has already caught Dexter's attention. Last month, Dexter shared his initial takeaways on Turner, having been impressed with the rookie's athleticism and he believes they can work and grow together.
After months of slow negotiations, another second-round draft pick agreed to his rookie contract this morning: The Bears and second-round defensive tackle Shemar Turner agreed to a deal, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. That means there have now been four second-round picks to reach contract agreements, with 28 more to go.
The Cincinnati Bengals are the only NFL that hasn't signed its first-round pick. Rookies report to Bengals training camp on July 19. The veteran player reporting date is July 22. The dispute between edge rusher Shemar Stewart and the Bengals isn't over money.
