Ober Gatlinburg announced Thursday they will open a new ski slope for the winter season. The slope, which hasn't been named, will be for advanced skiers and snowboarders.

Ski and snowboard slopes were closed last month, leaving tubing lanes as the only winter activity at Ober Gatlinburg.

While the Ober Gatlinburg ski slopes require more coverage and colder air, Tubing Park can open earlier with the produced snow and remain open into the spring season.

Ober Mountain offers year-round attractions, including shopping, dining and various outdoor activities. The resort can be accessed via an Aerial Tram ride from downtown Gatlinburg.

The nearby Ober Gatlinburg Ski Resort offers plenty of wintertime entertainment, and you can come home and relax in the hot tub after a day on the slopes. Pigeon Forge and Dollywood are also nearby.
