HOUSTON—SpaceX’s Crew Dragon capsule Grace executed a successful autonomous splashdown into the Pacific Ocean off the San Diego coast early July 15, bringing an end to Ax-4, Axiom Space’s fourth private astronaut mission to the International Space Station (ISS).
The private crew included Ax-4 mission commander and former NASA astronaut Peggy Whitson. It was her fifth trip to space and extended her record-setting duration to 695 days, the most of any American.
