Newcastle manager Eddie Howe has confirmed that Liverpool 's bid for Alexander Isak was rejected amid reports the club have beaten Manchester United to the signing of Benjamin Sesko.

The Reds' offer came after weeks of interest which, according to reports, led to anger from their counterparts in the North East over the delay in entering negotiations.

Newcastle United head coach Eddie Howe has described the situation with Alexander Isak as “complex” and “far from ideal.” Isak has made it clear that he wants to leave Newcastle this summer and was left out of the squad for their pre-season tour to Singapore and South Korea.
