Jul 2, 2013 · TAMPA - Thirty years ago, a mentally ill man walked into a Winn-Dixie store in Clair-Mel. He was carrying a large can of gasoline. John William "Billy'' Ferry Jr. showered several checkout lines with fuel and struck a match. The store exploded in fire. Dozens of people were injured; five died, including a 4-year-old girl and her mother.

Jul 27, 2009 · Hi and Welcome to Orlando. Winn Dixie has good prices but I have found that Wal Mart is a little cheaper. The bad thing is though, Wal mart is always so busy and has very long lines. I always check the ads in the paper. Albertsons had buy steak get two free last week. Winn Dixie and Publix usually have buy one get one free on a lot of items.

Oct 6, 2008 · I remember going to Keys on REALLY cold days and you would warm up fast. Keys used to be available in cans at Winn Dixie and Food Lion. I recall seeing it in both of those places, but it has been a while since I have looked for it. And there was a really GREAT Chinese restaurant where the BellSouth building is...King Woo if I remember correctly.

Carol would come in several times a week sporting rayban wayfarers as a disguise,and we’re all supposed to pretend she was invisible, even a smile was frowned on.

CSX Corp. and Fidelity National Financial, Inc. relocated their corporate headquarters to the city in 2003, joining Winn-Dixie Stores, Inc. in the ranks of Fortune 500 companies headquartered in Jacksonville. Cingular Wireless also added 400 new jobs to the area that year.

Feb 23, 2013 · Winn's. My husband grandfather was the founder of the store. He was a Christian man and did not try to rip people off. He died in the mid 70's, My husband has now passed, but he told so many stories of his grandfather. (Roy D Spears) There is a street in San Antonio named after the store, Winn ave. Right before he died

Dec 18, 2009 · The original store was demolished by a tornado about 2 years before we moved here, and they rebuilt it. Again, loved that store. Don't understand some of the comments they were dirty. To me they were the premier grocery operation in the city. But all things do change. When they sold out to Winn-Dixie, the handwriting was on the wall.
